Points and results are up for everything I have for this season. Could I have a couple people look things over and make sure I'm not missing anything?

I have the top 10 as:
1 Chris Gifford
2 Karl Hughes
3 Yuriy Yatsishin
4 Kyle Rashford
5 Scott Newton
6 Mark Mangicaro
7 John Croasdaile
8 Gerrit VanVranken
9 Randy Humphreys
10 Jay Cartini

And class champions:
BS: Mark Mangicaro
FS: Randy Humphreys
GS: Jay Cartini
HS: Yuriy Yatsishin
STS: Simon Robinson
STR: Paul Grover
XP: John Speicher
DM: Leo Sawyer
JA: Connor Hughes
Pro: Chris Gifford
Novice: Davey Thai

I'll agree with those results. If you like points, here are season points (minus drops) with average points per event (for all attended events)...

1 - Chris Gifford - 264 (41.9)
2 - Karl Hughes - 243 (40.5)
3 - Yuriy Yatsishin - 240 (40.0)
4 - Kyle Rashford - 213 (34.1)
5 - Scott Newton - 206 (30.1)
6 - Mark Mangicaro - 203 (28.6)
7 - John Croasdaile - 203 (31.0)
8 - Gerrit VanVranken - 189 (30.6)
9 - Randy Humphreys - 185 (30.8 )
10 - Jay Cartini - 112 (22.4)
11 - Leo Sawyer - 101 (16.8 )
12 - Simon Robinson - 96 (13.9)
13 - Davey Thai - 80 (16.0)
14 - Nicholas Dixon - 69 (10.0)
15 - Paul Grover - 58 (11.6)
16 - Connor Hughes - 51 (10.2)
17 - John Speicher - 38 (7.6)

Western scoring?
1 - Chris Gifford - 596.631
2 - Karl Hughes - 590.454
3 - Yuriy Yatsishin - 583.709
4 - Kyle Rashford - 580.837
5 - Mark Mangicaro - 575.654
6 - John Croasdaile - 573.936
7 - Scott Newton - 572.731
8 - Gerrit VanVranken - 568.937
9 - Randy Humphreys - 566.366
10 - Simon Robinson - 517.074
11 - Leo Sawyer - 510.58
12 - Nicholas Dixon - 506.795
13 - Jay Cartini - 447.136
14 - Davey Thai - 435.268
15 - Connor Hughes - 403.093
16 - Paul Grover - 394.045
17 - John Speicher - 340.923

Useless facts:
* All but one of the top ten drivers attended the night event.
* Only two of the top ten drivers attended the MCC event. Only three of all 17 qualifiers did.
* All but one of the top ten drivers attended the Enduro. All but two of all 17 qualifiers did.
* Only two drivers had more than one drop.

So the formula for top ten contention would include attending the night event and the Enduro, skipping MCC, and not depending on drops. Or something. :ha:

Also noteworthy that 11 of 17 drivers who attended 5 events, won a class championship.

Those who didn't:
Karl Hughes (2nd in Pro)
Kyle Rashford (3rd in Pro)
Scott Newton (split classes)
John Croasdaile (2nd in HS)
Gerrit VanVranken (3rd in HS)
Nicholas Dixon (2nd in Novice)

So, if you show up to 5 events, you have a 65% chance of winning a class championship. If you show up in something unpopular, your chances go up exponentially.

Also, our self-proclaimed "pro's" (who met the attendance #'s), finished 1, 2, & 4 in the overall PAX championship. The #3 guy in PAX, wasn't self-proclaimed pro, but won the most contested "open" class.

Looked at slightly differently, since the participation from CNY regulars at MCC was weak, one could argue that bothering to go made top 10 a guarantee. Only three of us CNYers went. If some scheduling had worked out to allow me to get to eligibility sans CVMP, the ratio would be 1:1 for going to MCC:finishing top 10.

Heck, more FLR folks showed up for the rain event at the fairgrounds. I mean, do y'all not like driving or something? :swg:

I'm surprised by how few people went to MCC. I had a scheduling conflict myself, or I would've been - and I know CNY'ers in general are historically bad at travel (look at old CNY events at SEAD or Griffis that had more OOR guys than "locals"), but we actually had a good turnout at RIT in 2014. Was MCC just that much less desirable a location? I've never been there (for an autocross), so I'm not sure which lot they even use.

MCC isn't really a palace, but it is (imo) still better than everywhere else we run. On par with Fairgrounds for size, pavement in much better condition, with only curbs around the outside for firm objects. Course design variety is okay. The paddock is paved, and it's just as large as the driving lot. Completely static grid, like you have a grid space to come back to, instead of a line. Clean, permanent bathrooms, for both genders, complete with running water. Generally run as run/work/rest with three run groups. Better capacity for instructing. Proper web-based live timing and scoring with timing issues just like anybody else that does the wireless thing.

I mean, it's not going to host a Tour anytime soon (or ever), but it's actually kind of nice. As a school? Who cares. As an autocross site, it's better than RIT.

The "CC" part may have been a deterrent. Take, for example, OCC or TCCC, the former appearing as a difficult venue and the latter actually being a difficult venue (yuck). From those CCs, I wouldn't expect much from MCC. From Mike's description, I'd be dead wrong.

I would have liked to go to MCC, in part because FLR generally runs a good event, and in part because the competition is good, and in part because they have a thriving FJ group which is fun for Connor. But, this season the autocross schedule ran afoul of the road racing schedule many times, which limited my ability to make to all the events I wanted to attend. Couldn't make it to MCC this year. Perhaps next year if we do the same thing.

And, for the record, I miss seeing your smiling face in Autocross-land, Rob. Turbo Miata in SSM FTW...

Well, thank you, Karl. One of the first things that hit me when I stopped racing was that, come each event, all my racing friends were out with the horsepower, that competitive spirit, and the combined effort to make the day work in the first place. That was kind of a drag.

Before the Miata can wear those letters, though, I've got to install the stouter clutch and beefier radiator that are waiting in my garage. That' of course, is a story for another thread that I'm long past due for writing...

Interesting to me is that a more noteworthy racing legend than I all but fell off the standings this season - Mark B.

I talked with Mark regarding that, and two things caught him out:
1) He works every saturday (which eliminated 5 events: 3x CCC, 2x Day-Night)
2) He had family obligations on the day of the NYS Fair and Enduro (he made an appearance at both events, but didn't compete)

Makes it hard to be competitive when you can only make it to one event...
