Aux lights? How far will Rob get?
As history repeats itself, none of that stuff will see the car, save for when it shares the garage with it.  0%  0%  [ 0 ]
That stuff won't be on the car, but those trademark mooched glow sticks will probably show up.  9%  9%  [ 1 ]
Lights mounted? Sure, but the wiring won't be done, so it'll all be for show... just like the Forester that's still unwired.  9%  9%  [ 1 ]
Mounted and wired? Sure, but it'll fall off, just like Gerrit the Cynic says.  18%  18%  [ 2 ]
Hands down, no questions asked, this will be a stupendous success, look cool, light up the night, and I'll treasure having seen it in person.  27%  27%  [ 3 ]
I wonder where Jim the Mouse's Camaro is now?  36%  36%  [ 4 ]

It's always the same. All the guys with intent to wire up some super cool lights have best odds of not finishing the task for any number of reasons. It's just a thing.

But... this time? I've got an early start!

22 DAYS REMAINING:

Here's a bunch of stuff I bought for my project. Mind you, the cooler and coil of extension cord are just there for a splash of color.

Updates as they roll in.

This should be interesting. I do wonder if the guy tried to wrap the camaro around a tree yet.

Note to self: It's super easy to be trumped by the most hated car in the history of CNYSubies.

I'll probably start cutting metal tonight. Nobody cares; you're all fixated on the idea of that Camaro in some substantially deformed state. :ha:

18 DAYS REMAINING:

This is turning out to be a good share of fun. I'm finding some shortcomings, mostly stemming from wishes of welding, but overall it's close enough for a short term, just-for-kicks project.

The first piece in place: I'm using the original mount points for the license plate bracket on the bumper beam. It's more substantial than it seems, and it's actually more stable and significant than the mounting of the bar on the Forester.
Image

Here's a test fit of the main assembly. It's not that big, at 25" wide.
Image

Next? Light bracket and wiring holes, grinding for aesthetic refinement, and paint!

1 DAY REMAINING:

Why put it off until tomorrow?

I got this headlight jumper harness so I wouldn't have to cut the factory one:
Image

Because the headlights are switched on the ground side of things, I ran the relay in parallel with the bulb:
Image

After lots of harness, loom, placement of the relay, and a fuse jumper from the ABS fuse (hey, who's got ABS anyway?)... read 'em and weep:
Image

That's two stumped non-believers! Two to go...

Some interesting fellow from Buffalo bought it who was wearing a Camaro jacket. He's had multiple ones but it sounded like they didn't have a long life span. I expect he wrapped it around a tree by now.

According to robs pic, the auto trans appeared to get too hot and catch on fire.

Nice work on the lights. It seems half of my autocross projects ends at 11pm the night before an event.
