a blown turbo in this one makes it sketchy but maybe a good deal?

is a bad turbo going to harm any of the rest of the engine when it fails? prob going to stay away from this one but I'm curious

Yeah... it's an auto also.

The earlier one looks ok, it probably won't ride too well with those coilovers but you could probably trade into something else.

I have an 05 XT and I love it. From what I recall, the 04-05 have the rear LSD, where the other's don't (although I'm not sure about the 06-08s). The 09+ only come in auto and don't handle as well as the 08 and older XT's. I found my XT at a small dealer in Albany which was always on the look out for XT's. I'll see if I can find their website again.

Note that we have a very fast modern Legacy among the forum's collective fleet.

The modern legacy is a bit different from the last gen legacy as it has the low front mount turbo. They only made that in wagon form for non US markets. I saw one when I was in Tokyo and it actually looked pretty slick. The last gen legacy wagons in 5MT are a bit harder to find. I know several that have them and most of them don't want to let them go. It does seem as though it would fit a bass better than a forester.

Did we get an outback turbo or were they only 2.5l and 3.6 engines? I am very sad they did not bring back the LGT. Now if you want a new AWD, stick, with the classy interior, and somewhat affordable, you are stuck with an Audi. LGT > A4

Looks good to me and the price is right. Mileage is a bit on the high side, so inquire about service records and make sure it's up to date. If the car is local definitely check it over for rust :(

check finally came through and now of course the ones everyone helped me find have been snatched up.

The Kowalik cars website is down... I tried to call them and confirm if something I want is still there but just got "sure, we have Subarus, come on down!" and explaining that it's 2hrs round trip to "come on down" got me nowhere. If it's not too far out of anyone's way to roll by and scope out the inventory I would owe you a beer/mountain dew.

Compulsively refreshing the subaruforester.org classifieds is not helping... I might lug the bass to a local dealer and see how it fits in an Impreza wagon and try to decide if I want to compromise.

Same dealer has a nice tinted 2.5XT that got me all hot and bothered until I saw sold written all over it.

I think the SVX is for sale too

I stopped in to that place today... it's pretty nice and obviously enthusiast owned. They gave me the keys to the red one there to test fit the bass but the hatch wouldn't open. Might be a bad sign but to be fair it was like the tundra out there and it has probably sat for a while. They told me about a silver FXT they have with ~150,000 miles but it has a bad turbo. They were fishing for interest on that car but I was a bit wary.

The latches on the hatches on the '05'y generation can get a little funked up, sticking open. Might be a reversed thing?

I've decided to change my car search tactic from "unicorn hunt" (turbo manual FXT) to "can't swing a dead cat without hitting one." It's not worth all the trouble for 6" of cargo space and I'm going nuts driving this new beetle (gfs)

gonna visit Rapp on Saturday :beelzebub:
